In a few months I will be studying abroad in Greece, and I could not be more excited. Greece is a land steeped in ancient traditions, cultures and history. One of my favorite classes was the study of Ancient Greece. I loved learning about the myths and legends of Greek gods and to be standing on the same soil where stories of Athena , Artemis and Demeter were created would be an awesome experience. Although many of the temples and ancient structures are now in ruins, I think just seeing them will bring to life those ancient stories.
I have always wanted to go there and was thrilled to learn that not only was I accepted to the class, but had also won the scholarship that would allow me to finally visit and see Greece came to live. When I found out I got a scholarship I got so excited, I got my luggage down from the attic and started to pack it. I then realized it would be a few months before I would need to pack, and I don’t even know what to pack.
I confess. I love trying Greek food here in America, and can’t wait to sample authentic food. I want to see not only the monuments, but also experience today’s Greek culture.I have already started researching the different types of foods and customs from the country, and I am even trying to learn some of the language. Suffice to say I am not speaking like a native yet, but as everyday passes the more excited I get. I give my heartfelt thanks for the scholarship that is allowing me to go on a new adventure and the opportunity of a lifetime. Everyone should aspire to see and participate in different cultures, it can alter your views and form new ideas of how to deal with obstacles in your life.
Thank You and I look forward studying abroad in Greece and sharing my experience with others when I return.
