“As An Aspiring Visual Artist, Traveling Has Always Been Important To Me.”

Germany

Studying abroad and traveling has always been some out of reach dream I’ve yearned for, as I love to travel and experience the world. Well, SPC made that dream a reality and I’m still having a hard time believing that I’m leaving for Germany in just a month! The process was easy and the SPC staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

As an aspiring visual development artist, traveling has always been important to me. Every place I’ve been, every person I’ve met, it all translates into my work. I believe it’s important for an artist to gain a wider perspective by visiting different countries and people and learning the history and cultures that make those places what they are.

Coming back to class for the fall semester, I met Dr. Li Lee Tunceren, an absolutely wonderful professor who encouraged me to join the Germany spring semester class. I’ve struggled with my health for years now and only recently have been able to make my recovery. Spending an entire semester abroad would have been very difficult for me, hence why it was so out of my reach. However, when I found out the Germany trip is only a week long, I quickly jumped at the opportunity. I simply filled out an online application, met with Dr. Tunceren for a sort of briefing, and bam, I was accepted.

Now the only problem was cost, because so much of my family’s money had gone into medical bills. So, I applied for a scholarship. I filled in some information and answered some questions in written responses and got the application submitted only days before the due date. All I could do then is wait. Weeks passed until I received the email… “Congratulations!” I was accepted and the cost of the trip was cut in half! I’m going to Germany! Where will you go?
