Hello my name is Hailemelekot Brouk and I have attended the Study Abroad program that traveled to Salamanca.
There are many unique things that occur in Salamanca that would not happen in Florida such as greeting someone kissing both of their cheeks, seeing the streets and sidewalks full of people walking, the dry but hot weather, the different types of people walking by, or the scenery.
Salamanca has many old buildings that still stand. The age can be seen from some buildings falling apart and others that are made of stone and are well maintained. Many of these buildings have statues or art on the building or even a part of the building.
Salamanca has a vast amount of historical value that can be seen from its building and tasted from their food. While in Salamanca I went to another town called Segovia and I was able to see the aqueducts that used to be used before modern technology made type water and plumbing system we now have. The aqueducts were very large and could be seen from a large distance away. I also was able to walk around the mountain Peña De Francia. The mountain was full of birds, flying insects and goats.
Salamanca has so much fresh delicious food. After going back home I will be able to make the food I ate here because of the cooking class I took. From this trip I was able to see a different culture and heritage. In the area that I explored was mostly the tourist area with other people new to Salamanca but, I tried to explore my own way by getting lost, talking to strangers, looking into new strange shops, and trying new food even if it seems a bit strange.
After this trip to Salamanca I am much more open to the idea if traveling to another new destination.
