This past May I Studied Abroad with SPC! I got to live out not just one of my dreams, but many, and it’s all thanks to the Study Abroad program at St. Petersburg College! Before you read on, if you are even considering studying abroad, I highly suggest it.  You’ll learn so much, and have such an incredible experience.  Still aren’t convinced?  I’ll tell you my story, then.

I’ve always wanted to go to Europe, especially London, but it was one of those dreams that I never thought would be possible.  Then suddenly, thanks to St. Petersburg College, I was in a plane sailing over the Atlantic Ocean.  Then I was in London, surrounded by so much culture and history, and I got to experience this with good friends and great company.  The food, contrary to popular belief, was delicious.  The sights, sounds, and all that I got to explore will stay imprinted in my mind forever.

As an actor, being in London was such a humbling experience.  We got to walk the streets that Shakespeare waked.  We got to see his home, and the Globe, although a replica, still upon the exact spot where he worked.  There were introductory workshops at his birthplace and at the Globe where we got to learn the traditional ways of acting in Shakespeare’s time.  Most importantly, we got to see four amazing, globally reviewed plays, including the controversial production of Romeo and Juliet and David Tennant’s over-sold show, Don Juan in SoHo.  (We even got to see him after the show, and he signed my program!)  Seeing these shows and having these experiences directly in the place where theater is born was an absolutely mind-blowing feeling.

I am so incredibly grateful to Professor Scott Cooper and the entire Study Abroad at SPC team for giving me such an incredible, life-changing opportunity.  London was an experience that I still cannot give the right words for.  The city is beautiful, the sights were unforgettable, and I have made so many memories.  These photos are just two of over 750 that I took, if that says anything about how great of an experience I had!  Please, if you are considering studying abroad, do so immediate!  You will not regret a single thing!
