South Africa – The Final Countdown

Soon a group of SPC students will be taking off to start their educational adventure in South Africa. The students can look forward to visiting Robben Island, which has become a major symbol of South Africa’s political struggles – the great leader and statesman Nelson Mandela was imprisoned there for 18 years (1964-1982). They will also get to view Table Mountain and tour the Cape Peninsula.

Here are some important tips to keep in mind while preparing for your trip:safrica2

  • Don’t forget to bring clothes that are cool, light and comfortable because summer temperatures can be anywhere from the mid 80’s- high 90’s in some areas.
  • Its a good idea to pack an umbrella or raincoat because this is when most of the country gets its rain. Thundershowers are common in many areas.
  • Don’t be flashy! Bringing expensive jewelry and other flashy items with you while traveling is not advisable. If they are not necessary for travel leave them at home!

Have a safe trip and we will see you back on the 6th!

Fun Fact: South Africa is well-known for its medical skill since Professor Christiaan Barnard performed the first successful heart transplant in 1967. There are many world-class private hospitals and medical centers around the country, especially in the urban centers!
