Today in Jamaica I worked at the clinic at Seaford Town. It was an hour and a half drive up a small lane with very little room for two cars up a mountain. The drive was beautiful! After finishing up at this clinic, I had one of the greatest experiences today to look back on. A 14 year old boy needed a dental cleaning and rode a bus an hour and a half all the way up to this clinic to receive his care today. He was my last patient of the day and I was able to place 8 sealants on him. This was extremely important to be able to prevent future cavities that this boy might have gotten if he had not received them. The sealants at first were not going as planned and it took longer than expected to get them all on. Not once did he complain about having to keep his mouth open or that he was uncomfortable. He was so grateful that he was even there at all and I was so blessed at that moment to be the one to be able to take care of him. We just don’t know how good we have it sometimes to be able to go right down the street to see our dentist for something as simple as a cleaning.
