Did you know EMS has a “Simbulance”?

The St. Petersburg College Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department knows the importance of simulation when practicing EMT and paramedic skills. When students can actually “do” what they just learned about, experience it, and simulate it, the learning environment becomes engaging, and the student becomes motivated.

What is a Simbulance?

It is very important for students to practice skills using fully equipped simulators which allow them to experience mock clinical procedures without endangering real patients. That’s where the simbulance comes in. A simbulance is the blending of the words “simulation ambulance.”

According to simbulance.com, “Research has shown training in a setting similar to the actual practice environment can increase learning retention tremendously.” For this reason, EMS students are able to train at the Health Education Center on the simbulance installed in EMS classroom 119!
