Over 35 freshmen and sophomore students attended the student day at the Florida Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association (FSADHA) day in Orlando as part of the Florida Dental Hygienists’ Association (FDHA). Incoming freshman Vice President Jessica Albury was elected to the Board as outgoing sophomore Treasurer and Delegate Joanne Banks is leaving the Board of FSADHA. Alternate Delegate Brittany Simpson also was in attendance.

Program Director Joan Tonner was there throughout the weekend as were some of their faculty. Dr. Katherine Woods, who served as Speaker of the FDHA House of Delegates and Linda Johnson, who served as a delegate to the FDHA House of Delegates attended the Symposium also. There were over 300 students present. They had a day of fun listening to motivational speakers, participating in dental hygiene trivia games with prizes and dance offs, along with more serious business such as elections and discussion of mega issues for the future of dental hygiene. All of the sophomore students registered and took a mock exam in preparation for their National Board Exam in March 2016.

It was great to see the students so involved with the activities of our professional association. They are our future leaders.
The student day at the symposium is an amazing experience. We learned more about our profession and had a good time. It was a great way to meet students from other schools in Florida as well. We were able to take a mock board exam to prepare us for the real thing in the spring. Thank you to our school for the opportunity to have that experience.
This was such a fun experience. My favorite part was meeting students from all over Florida, networking with them, and discussing similarities and differences within our programs. I look forward to next year and hope we represent SPC as well as we this year!
Great to see all of our dental hygienists geared up for the future~ Can’t wait to be part of 2016 Symposium!
This is such a wonderful opportunity for students to be involved in their professional organization. I am so thankful that SGA at SPC HEC was so supportive of this event.
