EMS CME Coordinator elected president of national group

The National Association of Emergency Medical Services Educators (NAEMSE) Board of Directors has selected John Todaro as president of the association. Todaro is the Department Coordinator of SPC’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Continuing Medical Education (CME) program.

He is serving his third term on the NAMESE Board of Directors and will take the reins of NAEMSE at their 2015 Educational Symposium, being held in Nashville, Tenn., August 4-9.

A 1976 graduate of St. Petersburg College’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic programs, Todaro returned to SPC in October 2014.

The Emergency Medical Services/Continuing Medical Education Department is the primary provider for continuing education for more than 1,600 clinicians of Pinellas County EMS. The department works with the Pinellas County Public Safety Services/EMS Division and the Office of the Medical Director to provide excellence in healthcare education, training and simulation in pre-hospital medicine.

Monthly training courses are offered online and through traditional classroom settings. The department uses classrooms at local area fire stations as well as the PCEMS Center for Prehospital Medicine located in Largo.
