As part of its commitment to providing students with credentials that lead to high-demand jobs, St. Petersburg College (SPC) offers courses that equip students with skills needed by Pinellas County industries.
One example is the advanced soldering training that recently expanded to the Tarpon Springs Campus in direct response to demand for soldering skills by local manufacturing companies.
Soldering courses prepare students to earn IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications, which are globally recognized by electronic manufacturers.
SPC partner and global manufacturer Jabil recently made a significant contribution to the program by donating a Jabil Soldering Station.
“The donation of this soldering station will help students gain valuable experience and open doors to future employment. We are grateful for our partnership with Jabil that directly supports workforce readiness,” said Margie Burnham, SPC Program Director.
Located within the Chris Sprowls Workforce Innovation Hub, the station will serve as a crucial tool for students to gain practical techniques, helping them bridge skill gaps and preparing them for exciting career opportunities with Jabil and other companies in the area.
“At Jabil, we are dedicated to investing in the future workforce in our community and helping equip individuals with the skills needed for success,” said Ashley Malone, Jabil Talent Acquisition Manager. “This donation is part of our ongoing commitment to training and supporting talent, and we are excited to help SPC students develop the hands-on expertise necessary for a successful career in the advanced manufacturing industry.”
