“I’m now in my second year of a masters degree in percussion performance, and it’s been a life changing experience. I’ve been able to grow as a musician more than I ever thought possible. Another notable moment for me was becoming a founding member of the percussion quartet, Call Street Percussion, which has developed into an incredible career that I couldn’t have had without the things I learned as a student at SPC.”

Ashlee made the most of her time at SPC, exceling in collaboration across the state at the FCSAA Winter Music Symposium, participating in SPC Percussion Studio, SPC Community Concert Band, and SPC Community Wind Symphony.

Ashlee offers the following advice to current prospective SPC AA-Music Transfer students.

“There are a few things I wish someone said to me when I started my AA degree. First, that’s it’s okay to feel a little lost in what exactly it is you want to pursue in the music field. The answer is different for everyone and the best way to find out what will fit you best is to talk to as many people in the industry as you can, use all the amazing resources SPC has to offer, and be creative in the pursuit of your dreams. Play in as many ensembles as you can, take lessons outside your primary instrument, and talk to every faculty member about their own career/backgrounds. If someone told me while I was an SPC student where I’d be now, I wouldn’t have believed them. But the experiences I gained left such an incredible impact on me and I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. “
