FullSizeRenderFlorida folk artist Rhonda K. Kitchens (RhondaK) is showing her whimsical sea-based artwork at St. Petersburg College’s Downtown Center through Friday, April 11. The art can be seen during normal campus hours, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, in the second-floor landing of the campus, located at 244 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. This show is free and open to the public.

Her work is painted on upcycled wood crates and planks and she follows in the tradition of other Florida-born folk artists, such as Ruby C. Williams, Mary Proctor and Alyne Harris. She is best known for creating the No White Tent art shows web page with information about art shows that cost artists $150 or less to register. She has also published stories with the Weekly Planet and established the Poetry in the Dark event in Tampa.

Kitchens also works as a Digital Presence librarian for State College of Florida, Lakewood Ranch campus. She brings her business experience, technology skills and street side painting savvy to adjunct teaching in her Business Communication classes.
