In celebration of African-American History Month, don’t miss this extraordinary African-American art exhibition featuring works by renowned artists Benny Andrews, Romare Bearden, Charles Bibbs, Elizabeth Catlett, Jonathan Green, Jacob Lawrence, Hughie Lee-Smith, Dane Tilghman, and more at the SPC St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus.
The exhibition centers around the themes of civil rights, education, family and music. Throughout the 20th century, many African-American artists responded to the struggle for freedom and civil rights, and the need to preserve African-American family life and culture, by producing works that spoke to these issues, often challenging the social and political order.
