St. Petersburg College’s Music Industry Recording Arts program and Music Department is hosting a FREE 75-minute Guitar Masterclass with Diego Figueiredo at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the St. Petersburg/Gibbs Campus, in HS 109.
About Diego Figueiredo

Brazilian guitarist Diego Figueiredo is an extraordinary rising star in the jazz world. His superb technique, timing and imagination have made him one of the hottest international names on the scene today.
Figueiredo is only 35. He has released 23 CDs, 3 DVDs and played in more than 60 countries around the world. He’s the winner of several competitions like the Montreal Jazz Competition, VISA Prize and others. As a musician, he keeps the traditional essence of Brazilian music but at the same time is extremely virtuosic, modern and innovative. His concerts unite technique and emotion in a fusion of Brazilian music and jazz.

In addition to the Guitar Masterclass, Figueiredo will perform that evening with MIRA students and music faculty members Alejandro Arenas, Austin Vickrey, Mark Feinman, John Richardson & David Manson in the Brazilian jazz group O Som Do Jazz at 7:30 p.m. at the Side Door at the Palladium Theater at St. Petersburg College, 253 5th Ave. N., St. Petersburg.
MIRA program at SPC
The Music Industry Recording Arts or MIRA program at the college helps develop real world skills for artists. It offers a technology-based educational experience to student musicians, composers, producers, DJs, live-sound reinforcement enthusiasts, broadcast audio engineers, and post-production technologists.
MIRA also connects students and faculty to a variety of learning partners in the industry who provide internship opportunities and cooperative training tracks.
