SPC Digital Arts student honored at World Arts Film Festival

St. Petersburg College Digital Arts Student Adam Ricketts won the Special Jury Award in the Youth Documentary Category at the recent World Arts Film Festival in Jacksonville.

The award-winning film, Ability: A journey with Rachel, follows the journey of current Miss Florida Collegiate Rachel Barcellona.

The festival is produced in collaboration with World Arts Education, an organization that supports diverse and inclusive arts and educational programs.

“As part of World Arts’ global educational outreach, the festival will bring diverse groups of filmmakers of all ages and backgrounds, including those with special needs, to meet and mentor each other and their audiences through this new venue. Created by individuals in New York, Los Angeles and Jacksonville, and supported by a growing network of advisors around the world, the festival is dedicated to a global message of inclusion through the arts and education,” according to the festival’s website.

Digital Arts at SPC

Digital arts and media technologies have changed how we learn, entertain ourselves and interact with one another. SPC’s Digital Arts, Media and Interactive Web Design classes prepare students for careers in:

  • Digital media
  • Filmmaking
  • Video production
  • Interactive and educational media production

The program was created in collaboration with the Interactive Media Technology Project consortium. Graduates leave with an industry-standard digital portfolio.
