{"id":4573,"date":"2022-11-01T15:37:46","date_gmt":"2022-11-01T19:37:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/technology-educational-information\/?p=4573"},"modified":"2024-01-30T16:07:50","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T21:07:50","slug":"spc-students-compete-in-raymond-james-ctf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/technology-educational-information\/spc-students-compete-in-raymond-james-ctf\/","title":{"rendered":"SPC Students Compete in Raymond James CTF"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Saturday October 22, 2022, the SPC Cybersecurity Club \u2013 TitanSec, competed in the Raymond James Capture the Flag competition, at Raymond James Financial Headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida. The SPC CTF team was comprised of the following CCIT Cybersecurity students: Team Captain Derrick Scholz, Eric Rau, and Austen Reece. Faculty mentors were CCIT Instructor-In-Charge, Laura Malave, and CCIT Adjunct Instructor Ryan Irving. Additional SPC staff in attendance were Dean Jimmy Chang, Sondra Seiter and Joe Benavides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our CCIT Cybersecurity students competed with 14 participating teams, which included: UCF, UF, USF, FSU, Texas A&amp;M, Penn State, Saint Leo, University of Tampa, Florida A&amp;M, Purdue University, Florida Tech, and University of Alabama. The theme of this year\u2019s CTF is \u201cWatchers at the Wall\u201d meaning an emphasis on blue team concepts. The CTF competition included cybersecurity challenges in the topics of: Web Exploits, Cryptography, Digital Forensics, Data Recovery, System Exploitation, Reverse Engineering, Physical Security, Mobile Exploits, and Current Events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Raymond James Capture the Flag competition is designed to continue strengthening the talent pipeline between Raymond James and colleges and universities. Raymond James wishes to expose students to the challenges faced in the financial services industry and identify talent for potential internship opportunities in the Raymond James Information Security and Infrastructure organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning team was given a $10,000 prize to be evenly distributed between the students. Second and third place teams received $5,000 and $2,500, respectively.
