Students strengthened their professional networks by interacting with employers and also by building relationships with fellow participants. Representatives of leading tech industry companies participated in identifying the gaps in junior talent and delivering curriculum during the sessions. Employer partners include: JPMorgan Chase, TechData, ValPak, Raymond James, Agile Thought, Tribridge, Arbitration Forum, IT Authorities, Melitta, Dabble Labs, Bic Graphic, and Bankers Financial.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/technology-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/05\/IMG_0534.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4056 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/technology-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/05\/IMG_0534-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"TechCamp\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/technology-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/05\/IMG_0534-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/technology-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/05\/IMG_0534-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/technology-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/05\/IMG_0534.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Participants describe the exposure to employers as their favorite part of the program. \u201cIt was helpful to know the expectations employers have of new employees,\u201d said Amy Albaugh, a student working toward her certificate in programming.<\/p>\n<p>Cybersecurity student Gregory Gibbs said the activities helped to build skills and confidence in the students&#8217; knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClay Schnelker from JP Morgan using the white board to discuss a classmate\u2019s idea was pretty cool,\u201d Gibbs said. \u201cHe was really interested in understanding what we knew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/\">St. Petersburg College<\/a> is a member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tampa Bay-New Skills At Work<\/a> (TBNSAW) initiative, a collaborative effort among local educational institutions and employers to prepare the next generation of talent in the technology field and connect IT graduates to Tech Jobs in the Tampa Bay area. This effort has been funded by JP Morgan Chase as part of their $325 million effort to improve the workforce across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are available for the next TechCamp, which will be starting June 5. The application deadline is May 11.
