TitanSec, St. Petersburg College’s Cybersecurity Club, took home a fifth-place overall finish in their second Raymond James Capture the Flag information security competition on Oct. 14.<\/p>\n

TitanSec was comprised of CCIT Cybersecurity students: Michael Milford-Team Captain, Nathan Turner, Jason Crochunis, James Austin, Peter Halpern, and faculty mentor, CCIT Academic Chair, Laura Malave.<\/p>\n

Raymond James Capture the Flag Cybersecurity Competition<\/h5>\n

This CTF competition hosted 10 teams from various universities and colleges such as the University of Tampa, the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida, the University of South Florida, Saint Leo University, and Florida State University. The competition also attracted schools from outside of the state such as Pennsylvania State University, Texas A&M University, and the University of Alabama.<\/p>\n

The CTF competition is designed to continue strengthening the talent pipeline between Raymond James and colleges and universities. Raymond James is looking to expose students to challenges faced by the financial services industry and identify talent for potential internship and employment opportunities in the Raymond James Information Security and Infrastructure organization.<\/p>\n

\"SPC<\/a><\/p>\n

The CTF competition included cybersecurity challenges related to: Web and Mobile Exploits, Cryptography, Digital Forensics, Data Recovery, Reverse Engineering, Physical Security, System Exploitation, and Current Events.<\/p>\n

The winning team, UCF’s Knightsec, received a $10,000 cash prize to be evenly distributed among the students. Second and third place teams received $5,000 and $2,500.<\/p>\n
