With rapid changes in the IT industry, it is vital that colleges and universities maintain industry centered curriculum standards. To ensure that this is the case, professors from St. Petersburg College\u2019s College of Computer & Information Technology (CCIT) attend conferences regarding its programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Laura Malave, Academic Department Chair, attended the IT A.S. Program Review Committee meeting at Valencia College in Orlando, on July 16-17 to review the IT Security, Technology Management, and Network Systems Technology Associate in Science Degrees. <\/span><\/p>\n

Industry centered curriculum builds skills for IT careers<\/span><\/h3>\n

The purpose of this review was to ensure that the programs are aligned with the needs of business and industry. To make sure we maintain industry centered curriculum, programs need to include performance standards that lead students towards the career, academic and workplace skills needed for employment and success in the Information Technology industry. This is accomplished with the help of partners in education, business and industry, and trade associations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faculty from throughout the state of Florida attended the program review bringing recommendations from their colleges and local industry representatives. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the purposes of SPC\u2019s IT Security certificate, SPC endeavors to help students prepare for and pass the <\/span>CompTIA Security+ Certification<\/span><\/u><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
