Two video projects created\u00a0with funding provided by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bja.gov\">Bureau of Justice Assistance<\/a> within the Department of Justice won <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tellyawards.com\/\">Telly<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.communicatorawards.com\/\">Communicator<\/a> Awards. Both are international competitions where works are judged on a standard of excellence.<\/p>\n<p>A short video featured in \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.colorofguilt.com\/\">The Color of Gu<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/public-safety\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2016\/05\/uniform-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-834 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/public-safety\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2016\/05\/uniform-2-85x215-custom.jpg\" alt=\"uniform 2\" width=\"85\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.colorofguilt.com\/\">ilt<\/a>\u201d interactive web site developed by CPSI staff won two Telly Awards, a 2016 Silver Award in the social Issues category and a Bronze People\u2019s Telly Award. \u201cThe Color of Guilt\u201d brings attention to the complex issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncjrs.gov\/pdffiles1\/ojjdp\/218861.pdf\">Disproportionate Minority Contact<\/a> (DMC), the disproportionately high or over-representation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.juvjustice.org\/sites\/default\/files\/ckfinder\/files\/DMC%20factsheet%20draft%20--%20Final%20for%20Print.pdf\">minority youth<\/a> in the juvenile justice system in comparison to their general population. Producer Doug Long created the concept and content\u00a0for the web site and Emmy-award winning videographer Doug Brumbaugh produced the video with the support of Jeremy Writt and Steve Veloff that explored the topic of DMC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yU8g3SO3KhM&amp;feature=youtu.be\">After the Uniform<\/a>\u201d, a documentary-length video about the post-service and post-deployment lives of members of<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/public-safety-policy-legal-studies-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2016\/08\/after-uniform-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-886 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/public-safety\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2016\/08\/after-uniform-1-200x173-custom.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a> the military won a Communicator Award of Excellence and a 2016 Bronze Telly Award, both in the social issues category. Producer Tiffani Sherman created the concept and wrote the video. One of the goals of this production is to help the public have a better understanding of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ptsd.va.gov\/public\/index.asp\">PTSD<\/a> and other issues some veterans face while serving their country and features in-depth interviews with veterans and statistical data.
