Mark your calendars for the SPC Great Debate Finals to find out!<\/p>\n<p>Join the college on Nov. 18\u00a0as ten student finalists, selected from preliminary competitions held around the college in October, compete in the Great Debate Finals at the Seminole Campus Digitorium (UP 160) from 12:30 &#8211; 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Plan to attend in support of the campus finalists who will be debating the pros and cons of the legalization of medical marijuana.<\/p>\n<p>The Great Debate offers students an opportunity to engage in debates of topical issues outside the classroom and compete for up to $1,000 in prizes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Finalists and participating campuses<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Six SPC campuses participated in preliminary competitions on topics ranging from mandatory vaccinations to\u00a0law enforcement use of video cameras.\u00a0Finalists, participating campuses and preliminary competition topics include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clearwater Campus &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic: Mandatory vaccinations<\/li>\n<li>1st Place Winner: Michael Pack<\/li>\n<li>2nd Place Finalist: Michael Krajnik<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SPC Downtown\/Midtown &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic: Video cameras on law enforcement<\/li>\n<li>1st Place Winner: Jessica Welch<\/li>\n<li>2nd Place Finalist: Eric Tsai<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>St. Petersburg\/Gibbs Campus &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic: Video cameras on law enforcement<\/li>\n<li>1st Place Winner: Iliana Yanes<\/li>\n<li>2nd Place Finalist: Ana Stanic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Seminole Campus &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic: Same-sex marriage<\/li>\n<li>1st Place Winner: Laken Hamby<\/li>\n<li>2nd Place Finalist: Bentley Adams<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tarpon Springs Campus &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Topic: Genetically modified organisms<\/li>\n<li>1st Place Winner: Jonathan Henkel<\/li>\n<li>2nd Place Finalist: Ryan Cocks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/solutions.spcollege.edu\/events\/great-debate-week-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\">See a recap of the <em>2015 Great Debate Preliminary Competition Week.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which St. Petersburg College student will be crowned The Greatest Debater of 2015?
