{"id":1584,"date":"2017-03-17T09:02:52","date_gmt":"2017-03-17T13:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/public-safety-policy-legal-studies-educational-information\/?p=1584"},"modified":"2024-01-30T15:52:34","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T20:52:34","slug":"fire-academy-participates-stair-climb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/public-safety-policy-legal-studies-educational-information\/fire-academy-participates-stair-climb\/","title":{"rendered":"SPC Fire Academy participates in Tampa stair climb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recruits from St. Petersburg College&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/degrees-training\/public-safety-public-policy-and-legal-studies\/public-safety\/firefighting-academy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fire Academy<\/a> Class #49 participated in the American Lung Association&#8217;s stair climb,\u00a0held March 11\u00a0at the Bank of America Plaza in Tampa.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/action.lung.org\/site\/TR?pg=informational&amp;fr_id=14849&amp;type=fr_informational&amp;sid=7920\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fight for Air Climb<\/a>\u00a0is a way for firefighters and the community to raise funds to support the American Lung Association, which has\u00a0positively impacted those affected by lung disease.<\/p>\n<p>The stair climb is one of the signature fundraising events of the American Lung Association. Climbs are held in prominent skyscrapers and other buildings across the country, giving participants the opportunity to join together with friends, family and co-workers as they climb the stairs to the top of the building.<\/p>\n<p>The stair climb, which has been taking place for more than a decade, has raised more than $40 million to support the mission of the American Lung Association.<\/p>\n<p>More than 30,000 participants from 63 Climb events across the country came together last year to raise more than $8 million.\u00a0The SPC Fire Academy recruits raised $1,372, which will help the American Lung Association raise awareness and funds to support research, patient programs and advocacy efforts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recruits from St. Petersburg College&#8217;s\u00a0Fire Academy Class #49 participated in the American Lung Association&#8217;s stair climb,\u00a0held March 11\u00a0at the Bank of America Plaza in Tampa.
