Tarpon Springs Campus<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, February 12th.\u00a0 12:30pm-2:30pm.<\/strong>\u00a0 LY 156. \u00a0 Movie showing “The Hate U Give.<\/a>”\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Limited to SPC Students, Staff, and Faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, February 27th. 12:30pm-1:45pm<\/strong>.\u00a0 Location FA Lobby (outside of library).\u00a0 Ethical discussion<\/a> about themes in The Hate U Give<\/a>.<\/em>\u00a0 Hosted by Dr. Odutola and the Ethics department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friday, March 1st- April 26th<\/strong>. Art Project.”Depicting Emotions in The Hate U Give<\/em>.”\u00a0 Students can turn in artwork\/submission form to either the Tarpon Springs<\/a> Campus library or the Clearwater<\/a> Campus library.\u00a0 Artwork submissions will be displayed at the Tarpon<\/a> and Clearwater<\/a> Campuses the week of April 29th- May 3rd<\/strong> as part of the Arts, Humanities, and Design<\/a> community week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Downtown and Midtown Centers<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

February 1st – 15th<\/strong>. Collage contest in the MT<\/a> Library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a collage using the themes of community, race, injustice, identity, family, loyalty, belonging, or the power of language. Participate and receive a FREE<\/strong> copy of The Hate U Give<\/em> (while supplies last).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voting will take place in the MT<\/a> Library February 18th – 21st. The winner will be announced at the Midtown Black History Month Celebration<\/a>, 12:30 – 1:30 pm, February 21 in MTJC 141 and will receive a gift card.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weekly:  Online\nStudent Book Club.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An online student book club has\nbeen started via Goodreads. This book club will meet online and is open for\nstudents to discuss themes of the book.  Students who participate weekly\nwill receive a free copy of the book (while supplies last). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, February 12th.\n6:30pm-7:30pm. <\/strong>Online\nWorkshop:  The Hate U Give.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop\nwould focus on “The Hate U Give” and the changes that it’s helping to\nspark in regards to teens and young adults becoming involved in their\ncommunities and speaking out for causes that they believe in.  I also hope\nto highlight read-a-likes and other authors of color that might appeal to\nreaders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
