{"id":9862,"date":"2015-06-23T17:12:10","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T17:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/?p=9862"},"modified":"2024-01-30T10:09:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T15:09:29","slug":"my-experience-in-italy-by-bronwen-tedrick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/my-experience-in-italy-by-bronwen-tedrick\/","title":{"rendered":"My experience in Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we climbed up St. Peters Basilica. \u00a0That is roughly around 550 stairs. \u00a0It was not as bad as I thought it would be but since we were constantly going in circles it got very repetitive.<\/p>\n<p>However, seeing the work of Michelangelo was worth it. \u00a0The Basilica was beautiful. \u00a0Its incredibly difficult to believe that not a single thing in the huge building was painted. \u00a0All of it was beautiful mosaic which was artfully laid, it was not difficult to believe that this building took over a hundred years to build. \u00a0I felt like a tiny human in this giant place of God.<\/p>\n<p>The next place we visited was Castel Sant\u2019Angelo. \u00a0Castel Sant\u2019Angelo was built by the Emperor Hadrian but then converted into a fortress for the Pope. \u00a0Lots of stairs. \u00a0I believe our tour guide got a little lost because we circled the place a few extra times. \u00a0After all of this, I was exhausted. \u00a0We had roughly climbed around 700 stairs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1040929-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-9863 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1040929-300x225-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1040929-300x225\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1040931-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-9864 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1040931-300x225-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1040931-300x225\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1040949-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-9865 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1040949-300x225-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1040949-300x225\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1050058-300x225.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-9866 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2015\/07\/P1050058-300x225-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"P1050058-300x225\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today we climbed up St. Peters Basilica. \u00a0That is roughly around 550 stairs. \u00a0It was not as bad as I thought it would be but since we were constantly going in circles it got very repetitive.
