{"id":7909,"date":"2015-05-12T17:44:33","date_gmt":"2015-05-12T17:44:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/study-abroad\/?p=7909"},"modified":"2024-01-30T09:48:48","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T14:48:48","slug":"mangroves-in-costa-rica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/mangroves-in-costa-rica\/","title":{"rendered":"Mangroves in Costa Rica"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/study-abroad\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mangrove-group.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7911 alignright\" alt=\"mangrove group\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/study-abroad\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/mangrove-group.jpg\" width=\"186\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a>For a couple of the days we were in Costa Rica we got to work in part of the mangrove conservation efforts.<\/p>\n<p>This first thing we did was water the baby plants and set aside some of the larger ones for being planted for our second day with the restoration efforts. I also sawed and cut bamboo for the first time in my life. They use it as a fence and also as markers for the sites of where they plant their mangroves.<\/p>\n<p>We had to measure how tall they were and count the leaves and branches to help out with their recordings to figure out what sites were flourishing and which ones weren&#8217;t, to figure if they need to plant somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>On the second day we had to cross this river with all these plants and put them into the sand.
