My travels across the Atlantic Ocean to the culturally and historically rich, green lands of Ireland has been an astonishing experience so far. This has been my first time traveling outside of North America and the thought of a trans-Atlantic plane flight was dreadful, but it went by smoothly. My first glimpse of this humble country was from outside the window of the plane, and the sight was enough to inspire awe to anyone whose travels here are their first.<\/p>\n

\"13509_1112184235465690_4776609311215279204_n\"<\/a>While waiting in the Dublin International Airport for our rides into town, I took the time to explore the small section of the airport that we were in. The different currency, food and beverages were already enough to get me thrilled and anxious for all the days to follow.<\/p>\n

Heading into Dublin, I was amazed at the architectural design of the rural areas outside of the city. Majority of the homes were duplicates, each lined back to back. You get a sense these buildings are decades old, but still look and are maintained in good shape.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, I noticed that many of the people living here prefer walking as a method of transportation than using automobiles. While autos are still a prime choice of transportation when needed\/wanted, many destinations that we would have otherwise driven to, these folks walk the distance. I have probably walked more in these past 5 days then I have in a while but it’s all worth the sights. I see why these people would chose such method – the weather is consistently beautiful, there are many historical sites scattered across Dublin. The city is full of life and you can never run out of things to do.<\/p>\n

I’ve noticed a strong sense of national pride here, as people enjoy discussing Irish culture, heritage and politics. It has been very rewarding exploring the city and engaging with many types of characters. I do not see much of this back home, as everyone has various mixed opinions on so many things but here everyone feels to be on common ground on things. Also, it’s ridiculously how friendly some of the people are here, I’m baffled at times how modest they can be, It has been a truly thrilling journey thus far and hope I can spend more time here in the years to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
