This has been such an incredible experience.\u00a0 It is hard to put into words all the different emotions I felt this week. \u00a0I had the honor of spending a week at Mt. Airy All Age School.\u00a0From the moment we entered, we were treated\u00a0as\u00a0though we were family and had been a part of their school for years.\u00a0 It was neat to see the reactions of the\u00a0teachers and students when they saw those that had\u00a0been there before.\u00a0 Even though this was my first year,\u00a0they made me feel that\u00a0I belonged there.\u00a0I have so many incredible moments, but I will just share a few. \u00a0The students I worked with during small group pullouts were amazing.\u00a0 My favorite small group moment was when Keesha and I were working with a\u00a0bigger pullout group.\u00a0\u00a0There was a little boy who had been struggling to write his name.\u00a0\u00a0We had been working on letter\u00a0identification and formation and\u00a0Keesha\u00a0helped him write his name.\u00a0 He started running off and we didn’t know what he was doing or where he was going.\u00a0 He said he was going to show\u00a0his friend how he wrote his name.\u00a0 He was so proud!!\u00a0\u00a0It melted my heart to see him so happy and proud of his accomplishment. The students are\u00a0beyond amazing!<\/p>\n
Keesha and I were also able to model co-teaching for the first and second grade teachers.\u00a0 We created a few different lessons to show the teachers what co-teaching really is.\u00a0 It was so cool to see them implementing some of the strategies we showed them. By the end of the week they were teaching lessons together while working effectively as co-teachers and playing off of each others strengths.\u00a0\u00a0We worked with four amazing first and second grade teachers.\u00a0 The students are so lucky to have\u00a0them!<\/p>\n
We can learn a lot from the people of\u00a0Jamaica.\u00a0 Everyone is so genuinely caring, compassionate, full of life, grateful\u00a0for what they have, and truly wonderful.\u00a0I believe they taught me more than I can ever teach them.\u00a0\u00a0I will miss everyone\u00a0with all my heart.\u00a0\u00a0They will forever be a\u00a0part of me.\u00a0\u00a0I am grateful for the opportunity to work with\u00a0extraordinary kids, teachers, my classmates\/peers, and Great Shape, Inc!\u00a0 I hope to come back for many years to come.<\/p>\n
