Eyebombing is something that I have decided to carry with me to Jamaica and in a way I can definitely see a parallel to the students in the classroom.\u00a0 When I see an opportunity to eyebomb I jump at\u00a0it without second thoughts or even give myself time to over-think it.\u00a0 It is in this exact way that I feel loving on the students has been the most impactful moment in the school for me so far.\u00a0 I am a strong believer in using every moment to teach or make an impact on a child’s life and I’ve got to do that a lot this week.\u00a0 Some of my most favorite moments happen to be with the students during lunch outside of the classroom.\u00a0 What’s neat about Jamaica is that they have an hour\u00a0(or more) for lunch.\u00a0 After the students are done eating they\u00a0have\u00a0the remaining time to play in the courtyard or field.\u00a0\u00a0This is one of my favorite parts of the day because it allows me to experience the students interact in an environment that isn’t the classroom setting.\u00a0 So much “teaching” goes on during this time and the best part is it’s all unplanned.<\/p>\n
Yesterday I was outside and I taught the students a rhythm game.\u00a0 It was somewhat complex and had to do with passing a “bunny” around, keeping a beat, and being a goofy kid.\u00a0 Anyway, it took a lot of concentration, understanding, and communicating to successfully “pass the bunny”.\u00a0 What put the cherry on top was when the students saw me this morning the fist thing they said was “bunny bunny”!\u00a0This is only one small story out of many others\u00a0and I can’t wait to see what other moments I encounter for the next two\u00a0days.<\/p>\n
P.S.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eyebombing, for those who don’t know, is the act of\u00a0putting googly eyes\u00a0on inanimate objects\u00a0so passerbyers will see happiness and art everywhere.<\/p>\n
