Today was the second day I had the pleasure of being welcomed to Kendal Primary School. So far it has been an incredible experience that words cannot even describe. I had the opportunity today to give shoes to the students with another Great Shape Volunteer named Lisa all thanks to the foundation Great Shape Incorporated. It was extremely heartwarming to see the looks on their faces with the joy and thankfulness of receiving shoes. The look of so much happiness\u00a0on their little faces\u00a0was the greatest gift of all. However, on the flip side, it was the most heart breaking\u00a0thing I have ever done because there weren’t enough for every single student. \u00a0Some students did not get shoes today and I felt horrible. Everyone was so amazing (the teachers and principal of Kendal Primary School) and made me feel a little better by telling me you did what you could and it is an incredible thing. We live in a country where the world is at your fingertips. You can go to many different stores to buy a very cheap pair of shoes. Today I thought about my closet and how many pairs I have and I wanted to give them all away. Do you think those kids care about what matches with what outfit? Or the coolest name brands? No. Not a single one. They were so happy and so thankful for a pair of plain black shoes, no name brand, nothing super special, no colors or designs. Kids in this\u00a0country don’t even get that look of thanks when they get a new X-box or I-phone. In one way I almost hated today because I could not give them all a pair of shoes. I have been observant enough to notice that the students will walk home or anywhere holding their school shoes because it is the only pair they have and they want it to last AS LONG as possible because in order to go to school you need a uniform. The shoes are a part of that uniform. To say the very least this is one of the most amazing things I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of and I wish\u00a0I\u00a0could do it everyday. If you ever get an opportunity to volunteer and give things to those who don’t have any, don’t pass up the chance. Not only will I remember this trip and experience for the rest of my life, this one day will stand out above all else. I have never felt so much compassion and emotion in one day. I will never forget the look on their little faces, and I will always remember less really is more. The less you have the more thankful you are.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
