I\u2019ve been fortunate to participate in several SPC study abroad programs \u2014 from the rainforests of Costa Rica to the vibrant markets of Morocco \u2014 and now to the historic capital of Athens, Greece. Each trip has been unique and enriching, but my time in Athens stood out for entirely different reasons than my past study abroad experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n

From the very beginning, the way our professor pitched this trip was spot-on. In other study abroad programs, you might watch someone \u201cmilk the cow\u201d \u2014 observing experts and listening to them explain their work. In Athens, you actually milk the cow yourself. This wasn\u2019t just about sightseeing or sitting through information sessions; it was about taking on the tasks and responsibilities that the guides and professionals normally handle.<\/p>\n\n\n

One of the most valuable parts of this trip for me was working at Fatima\u2019s shop. It gave me a firsthand look at running a small business in a completely different cultural and economic environment. Even more special was how Fatima and I connected over Morocco \u2014 a country I had visited on a previous study abroad. We shared stories about its culture, markets, and traditions, and that connection made the experience even more personal and meaningful.
That difference was powerful. It challenged me to apply my classroom knowledge in real-world situations, and it validated my SPC experience by proving that I\u2019m not just taking classes for credits \u2014 I\u2019m actually learning, growing, and gaining skills I can use in my future career.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If I could, I\u2019d take this trip again in a heartbeat. While there are still a few details to refine, I truly believe this should be a top choice for business students. Athens wasn\u2019t just a destination \u2014 it was a classroom, a challenge, and an unforgettable experience all in one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
