\"\"<\/a>When I first I applied to SPC’s Spain Study Abroad program, I was not certain that it was going to become a reality. After submitting my application, everything happened very quickly and next thing you know I am packing my bags and heading to Salamanca, Spain. Arriving in the airport of Madrid, Barajas was an exciting and interesting experience. Although, I was feeling anxious about getting to know new people, I knew that it was the beginning of a delightful experience filled with unforgettable memories. Meeting the rest of the students at the airport provided me with the opportunity to realize that the next three weeks, I was going to built everlasting friendships and grow as an individual.<\/p>\n

I am from the Dominican Republic and I am fluent in Spanish and every time that I had the opportunity to share this with someone, I kept getting the following question: \u201cIf you are fluent, why are you here?\u201d Well, let me tell you that there is more to studying abroad in Spain than learning or improving your Spanish. Thus far in the trip, I have been able to improve my grammar, explore a new culture, meet different people and most importantly take care of myself.\u00a0 Coming to the Study Abroad program has helped me reflect on who I am as an individual and what my purpose is.\u00a0 Visiting the Pe\u00f1a de Francia, was one of those unique moments that take your breath away and I am grateful that I was able to experience it. In addition, I have been able to contribute and help those surround me. One of the greatest pleasures is being able to help my friends and watching them learn and improve their Spanish.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Being able to share a once in a lifetime experience with wonderful people is something that I would never forget and I will always treasure. Sharing a room with Ronelia, enjoying my Spanish class with Federico, sharing everlasting laughs with Eytan and Griffin, exploring the city with the Cuatro Amigos and my beautiful girls Maryclare and Jennifer, having my never-ending conversations with Isabella and Rebekah, taking a million selfies with Thu, Maddie and Charae, sharing a delicious tapa with Joshua and learning in the excursions with April, Teresa, Dorothy, Haile, Sanja, Roy and Chase. Thank you each and one of you for making my Study Abroad experience an exceptional one.<\/p>\n

So, if you are fearful of traveling with strangers and adapting to a new culture, remember that you are not alone and that common thought creates an everlasting bond. Also, there would be great mentors supporting you along the way ensuring that you\u2019ll have the best experience possible.
