{"id":13936,"date":"2016-10-12T17:09:09","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T21:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/?p=13936"},"modified":"2024-01-30T11:50:42","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T16:50:42","slug":"study-theater-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/study-theater-london\/","title":{"rendered":"Study Theater in London!"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_13937\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13937\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/10\/123.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13937 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/10\/123-300x200.png\" alt=\"123\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/10\/123-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/10\/123-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/international\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2016\/10\/123.png 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13937\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">SPC students with Andrew Scott (Sherlock) in the lobby of the National Theater<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Working in the Professional Theater is what I do (in addition to teaching theater at SPC). \u00a0 When I first started teaching here, I knew I wanted to share the professional experience with students and I knew I wanted to take them to London. \u00a0 London is one of the theater capitals of the world. \u00a0Shakespeare (don&#8217;t be afraid), avant garde\u00a0theater, the National Theater, The West End are all a tube ride away. \u00a0This, along with professional actors giving workshops, is why this trip is perfect for theater people and people who just want to have more appreciation for the theater.<\/p>\n<p>I have taken students twice before and each time I really enjoy the reactions of how amazed they are by this wonderful city and the thriving theater scene there. \u00a0 Seeing sites such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, The London Eye and Piccadilly Circus are also part of the immersion into this historic and vibrant city. \u00a0 When last there (2015) we met\u00a0Andrew Scott (known for playing Moriarty on BBC\u2019s\u00a0<em>Sherlock) <\/em>in the Lobby of the National Theater as we ended our tour of their amazing facility. \u00a0 Students also waited outside stage doors to get autographs and to talk with other professional actors after their performances. \u00a0 Other experiences have included finding out what a &#8220;groundling&#8221;
