{"id":4670,"date":"2022-06-14T14:10:57","date_gmt":"2022-06-14T18:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/health-sciences-nursing-veterinary-technology-educational-information\/?p=4670"},"modified":"2025-11-13T20:28:51","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T01:28:51","slug":"spc-nursing-accreditation-renewed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/health-sciences-nursing-veterinary-technology-educational-information\/spc-nursing-accreditation-renewed\/","title":{"rendered":"SPC Nursing Accreditation Renewed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) recently granted accreditation to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">St. Petersburg College<\/a>\u2019s baccalaureate degree program in Nursing, which will extend until June 30, 2032. The program first gained accreditation in 2007, and this is its second renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No easy task<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The accolade is hard earned. For two years, the faculty, staff and deans of the RN-BSN Nursing program worked to evaluate the program at multiple levels to ensure that it met CCNE\u2019s four standards, which take an in-depth look at mission and governance, institutional commitment to resources, curriculum and teaching-learning practices, and achievement of program outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Jean Lee, Professor of Nursing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/future-students\/degrees-training\/health-sciences-and-veterinary-technology\/nursing\/nursing-bs-degree\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College of Nursing&#8217;s RN-BSN program<\/a>, said multiple perspectives had to be considered to ensure that SPC&#8217;s RN-BSN Nursing program is contemporary and responsive to the needs of students and the College\u2019s community partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe overall process and visit was a group effort involving students, faculty, staff and administrators within the College of Nursing and other areas and personnel from many other departments,\u201d Lee said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Accreditation means excellence<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>CCNE accreditation is a stamp of excellence that means that SPC students are getting a high-quality education that meets the standards for baccalaureate nursing education.\u00a0It also allows St. Petersburg College BSN graduates to matriculate into accredited graduate nursing programs throughout the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt ensures that courses have contemporary and relevant content, instructors are using a variety of appropriate teaching methods, and students are equipped to meet professional challenges and expectations of baccalaureate nurses,\u201d Lee
