{"id":432,"date":"2015-08-21T09:34:38","date_gmt":"2015-08-21T13:34:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/health\/?p=432"},"modified":"2024-01-30T15:41:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T20:41:29","slug":"new-orthotics-and-prosthetics-program-receives-accreditation-from-caahep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/health-sciences-nursing-veterinary-technology-educational-information\/new-orthotics-and-prosthetics-program-receives-accreditation-from-caahep\/","title":{"rendered":"New Orthotics and Prosthetics program receives accreditation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This Fall marks the implementation of the newly accredited orthotics and prosthetics technician AS degree program from CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Care Educational Programs), which is\u00a0the first and only associate degree for orthotic and prosthetic technicians in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The initial full roster of 24 students will begin their two-year Associate in Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics Technology degree this week, preparing them to \u00a0fabricate artificial limbs and orthopedic braces, as well as to take\u00a0the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics &amp; Pedorthics Technician Certification Exams.<\/p>\n<p>Once certified, graduates\u00a0of the\u00a0program can find work in orthotic and prosthetic practices, hospitals, central fabrication facilities and orthotic and prosthetic manufacturing companies.
