St. Petersburg College Student Nurses Association (SNA) organized a November food drive to give back to our community this holiday season. For the month of November, we collected nonperishable food items from all four levels of our SPC RN nursing students. The food drive was held at the SPC Health Education Center located in Pinellas Park. In between studying for finals and diligently working to wrap up the semester, these nursing students were still committed to supporting their community during the holidays. To turn up the heat, we decided to host a competition between Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. Level 3 took 1st place by collecting the most items, and Level 2 closely followed. With the help of the student nurses, we were able to collect a total of 109 food items to be donated to our local CASA shelter. Founded in 1977, CASA is a domestic violence shelter that provides support and lifesaving services to domestic violence survivors and their children. They also work with the community to build a network of support while empowering and advocating for the survivors. SPC\u2019s Student Nurses Association was eager to organize this food drive and felt very passionate about the cause. These donations were delivered right on time for the Thanksgiving dinner that was provided to the participants living in shelter. They were very thankful for the donations and were elated that our St. Petersburg College’s SNA reached out in support of the CASA organization. Our donations contributed to feeding over 50 people that are currently staying in shelter.
