This month they spotlight Arlene Gillis, our director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/op\">J.E. Hanger College of Orthotics and Prosthetics<\/a> here at St. Petersburg College.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oandp.org\/wop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Women in Orthotics and Prosthetics<\/a> group was formed in 2005 by a group of young women at Georgia Tech and is now a committee within the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists.\u00a0One of the goals of the Women in Orthotics and Prosthetics Committee is to connect leaders within O&amp;P who are willing to assist or provide feedback to other practitioners on an as needed basis on their topics of expertise. \u00a0For a more in-depth interview with Arlene continue the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oandp.org\/WOP\/spotlight\/spotlight_2015_qtr2.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spotlight here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Since 2005, SPC has been a national leader in developing and providing Orthotics and Prosthetics training. SPC offers a bachelor&#8217;s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics that articulates to a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, with a specialization in Engineering Management of Orthotics and Prosthetics at Florida State University; an A.S. degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics Technology and continuing education courses for current practitioners.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ABOVE: Arlene Gillis, center, with veterans climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
