{"id":2381,"date":"2014-10-29T19:56:56","date_gmt":"2014-10-29T23:56:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/vettech\/?p=17"},"modified":"2024-01-30T15:40:28","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T20:40:28","slug":"vet-tech-open-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/health-sciences-nursing-veterinary-technology-educational-information\/vet-tech-open-house\/","title":{"rendered":"Vet Tech hosts Open House Oct. 15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To help celebrate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avma.org\/Events\/pethealth\/Pages\/National-Veterinary-Technician-Week.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Veterinary Technician Week<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/vt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Veterinary Technology<\/a> will host its annual Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the\u00a0Veterinary Technology Center, 12376 Ulmerton Road, Largo.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the public are invited to the event, where they can tour the state-of-the-art facility, learn about programs and career options, meet faculty, and explore a \u201cday in the life\u201d of a veterinary technician.<\/p>\n<p>The event will feature many hands-on activities, such as the opportunity to examine blood samples under a microscope and observe cat clicker training. Additional presentations will be held on pet care and nutrition, avian and exotic species.<\/p>\n<p>Pets will also be available for adoption.<\/p>\n<p>Vendors will include: St. Petersburg College\u2019s\u00a0International Programs, Animal Lovers Dream Rescue, Avian &amp; Exotics, Animal Services, Humane Society, SPCA, Operation Snip, Paws for Veterans (service dog demo), Dog Tag Heroes, Southeastern Guide Dogs, Hill\u2019s Pet Nutrition, Therapy Dogs International, Student Veteran\u2019s Association, Vet Tech Society (VTS), Florida Veterinary Technicians Association (FVTA) and\u00a0 PSTA (SPC Rides Free).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To help celebrate National Veterinary Technician Week, the School of Veterinary Technology will host its annual Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the\u00a0Veterinary Technology Center, 12376 Ulmerton Road, Largo.
