{"id":739,"date":"2017-04-21T09:39:53","date_gmt":"2017-04-21T13:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/engineering-manufacturing-building-arts-educational-information\/?p=739"},"modified":"2024-01-30T15:38:08","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T20:38:08","slug":"2017-summer-titan-drone-camp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/engineering-manufacturing-building-arts-educational-information\/2017-summer-titan-drone-camp\/","title":{"rendered":"Register Today For This Summer&#8217;s 2017 Titan Drone Camp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Petersburg College&#8217;s Engineering, Manufacturing, and Building Arts department is pleased to announce an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/friends-partners\/community-resources\/summer-programs\/titan-drone-summer-camp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exciting STEM summer camp opportunity<\/a> for students ages 13-19: drone camp.<\/p>\n<p>Students attending <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/friends-partners\/community-resources\/summer-programs\/titan-drone-summer-camp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPC&#8217;s 2017 Titan Drone Summer Camp<\/a> will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engage in 3D printing process using additive manufacturing techniques<\/li>\n<li>Understand the electronics and precision needed for building drones<\/li>\n<li>Learn entrepreneurial skills used by successful business owners<\/li>\n<li>Tour an advanced manufacturing facility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Hands-on learning<\/h5>\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8230;when we give students the inspiration not just that math and science are inherently interesting, and technology and engineering are inherently interesting, but there\u2019s actual problems to solve, it turns out that young people, they rise to the challenge. And that\u2019s what\u2019s so exciting about it.&#8221; &#8211; former\u00a0President Barack Obama<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Opportunities for affordable, quality summer STEM programs for teens are few and far between. SPC\u00a0understands the importance of encouraging students in this rapidly advancing field. That is why we are committed to providing hands-on learning opportunities for students. To that end, we have planned\u00a0another fun summer learning program.<\/p>\n<p>Students will work directly with faculty and Engineering Department student assistants to build, fly, and repair a drone! They will get to keep the drone after the program and will have learned how to operate and if necessary repair it themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Students will also go on a field trip to an advanced manufacturing facility to see for themselves real world\u00a0applications of science, technology, engineering and math.<\/p>\n<h5>Drone camp details<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/friends-partners\/community-resources\/summer-programs\/titan-drone-summer-camp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The camp<\/a> will run June 26 &#8211; 30, 8 a.m. &#8211; 4\u00a0p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Please be sure to bring lunch daily.
