Next, he completed an intense five-week online course, which ultimately resulted in this prestigious all-expense-paid invitation. The Co-PIs and Project Manager of the B2B program have been working on both creating on-campus undergraduate research experiences (URE) and locating UREs and internships in the STEM industry right here in Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beginning his academic journey at SPC in the 2018 summer term as part of the 2018 Summer of Success (SOS) cohort at the Seminole Campus, Garcia became a part of the inaugural B2B cohort that same term. Because of his active participation with the program, he was selected to travel with the alliance to Phoenix for the 2019 Society of Hispanic Professional Engineering (SHPE) Convention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/engineering-manufacturing-building-arts-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2020\/02\/Ramiro-NASA.jpg\" alt=\"A male student stands in front of an engineering project on a table.\" class=\"wp-image-1323\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Garcia is working toward a degree in Aerospace Engineering and plans to transfer to the University of South Florida. He shared that even though he\u2019s not sure what the activities will be for this onsite experience, he believes that this opportunity will give him an idea of what engineering fieldwork looks like and how it operates. He is grateful to SPC for this amazing opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSPC really helped me with the application process,\u201d he said. \u201cMagaly Tymms was very helpful with the reference letter, considering she had a background in engineering. And of course, the B2B program has helped tremendously with my work ethic and networking skills.
