SPC College of Education students volunteered for a week in the public schools in Negril, Jamaica in November as part of an initiative to help improve literacy with Jamaican children.<\/p>\n

SPC students worked with children in the areas of art, computers, music and physical education. In the schools, College of Education preservice teachers taught small and large group lessons, worked side by side with Jamaican teachers and interacted with children in a variety of activities throughout the school day.<\/p>\n

“The humanitarian literacy project SuperKids through Great Shape, Inc. has forever impacted my life in only ways that one could experience … The children will not only change your ways of teaching, but the way that you look at your life and the gratefulness you hold for the little things around you that you take for granted,” said\u00a0Kelly Van Stedum<\/span>, an SPC student.<\/p>\n
