{"id":3838,"date":"2017-10-11T15:30:10","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T19:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/education-information\/?p=3838"},"modified":"2024-02-12T08:32:52","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T13:32:52","slug":"volunteering-encourages-civic-responsibility-coe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/education-information\/volunteering-encourages-civic-responsibility-coe\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteering encourages civic responsibility for COE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Emily Hoeh took 13 students from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/degrees-training\/education\">College of Education<\/a> to volunteer at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ds-stride.org\/fdswfbuddywalk\">Buddy Walk on Saturday afternoon, October 7th<\/a> promoting civic responsibility. The COE community service responsibilities at the Buddy Walk was helping with kids activities during the tailgate party.\u00a0 The volunteer group walked\u00a0 in support of the participants to the Raymond James Stadium football field.\u00a0 It was a productive and engaging experience for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/degrees-training\/education\">pre-service teachers<\/a> who were are an investment in our community and the people who live in it.\u00a0 Volunteering increases self-confidence and the more we give, the happier we feel. Doing good for others provides a natural sense of accomplishment.\u00a0 Volunteering allows students to get involved with new things and develop technical, social, and academic skills that couldn\u2019t be learned in a classroom environment.\u00a0 \u00a0These are important\u00a0 skills for students training to be teachers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Some of the Buddy Walk Day&#8217;s Events<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n<p>The pre-service teachers helped with some of the fun events like: 4-Way Power Bungee Jump, 2 Hamster Balls, a Bungee Run Obstacle Course, a 15 ft. Slide Giant slide, and 4-in-1 Combo Bouncer.
