There is an urgent need for K-12 teachers in education. Learn more at an\u00a0information session this week – Thursday, Feb. 2, at SPC’s Clearwater Campus<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a non-education major but would like to teach, SPC’s Educator Preparation Institute (EPI)<\/a> may be the perfect fit for you.\u00a0 If you would like to attend,\u00a0reply here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Learn more at the upcoming EPI<\/a> Information Session on Thursday , Feb. 2, from 5:30 \u2013 6:30 p.m. on the Clearwater Campus, ES 104 . The alternative teacher certification program at SPC is a state-approved, three-semester program that leads to Florida\u2019s Professional Teaching Certificate, the state\u2019s highest licensure.<\/p>\n

EPI starts during summer term<\/strong><\/p>\n

SPC\u2019s EPI starts during the summer in May only<\/strong>. It is an evening program with daytime teaching requirements during the second and third terms.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

All EPI courses are \u201cblended,\u201d meaning the course content will be delivered both on campus and online.\u00a0 Although coursework involves online components, it is not an online program.<\/p>\n

On-campus class times may require one or two nights a week (Monday – Thursday) beginning at 6 p.m. and ending between 8 and 9 p.m.\u00a0 Online instruction and modules may be completed at any computer and any time (24\/7) during the time frames specified by the instructor.<\/p>\n

Practical teaching is also an integral part of the EPI. Teacher candidates will complete a 60-hour practicum during the second term of the EPI. SPC works with Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough counties to secure practicum and internship assignments for all College of Education students.<\/p>\n
