The display will be in the Library\/Learning Center in the campus&#8217; FA building through the end of February.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This blog post was written by Alex Johnson, one of the students who helped create the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/friends-partners\/about\/locations\/tarpon-springs-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tarpon Springs Campus<\/a> display of African American History Month heroes. Ethan Hart, Associate Director of Learning Resources at the Tarpon Springs Campus, worked with students to develop this project.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Philip Emeagwali, Otis F. Boykin, Granville T. Woods, and Henry T. He was able to do this by emulating the efficiency in the way bees construct honeycombs.<\/p>\n<h3>Otis F. Boykin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Otis F. Boykin graduated from Fisk College in 1941. He was able to make remarkable inventions, including a wire precision resistor used in televisions and radios and the control unit for the pacemaker.<\/p>\n<h3>Granville T. Woods<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Granville T. Woods, also known as \u201cBlack Edison\u201d established a company in Cincinnati to develop, manufacture, and sell electrical railroad equipment. During his lifetime, he registered almost 60 patents, including a telephone transmitter, a trolley wheel, and a multiplex telegraph (over which he defeated a lawsuit by Thomas Edison).<\/p>\n<h3>Henry T. Sampson<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_596\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-596\" style=\"width: 188px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/communications-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/02\/henry-sampson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-596 \" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/communications-educational-information\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2018\/02\/henry-sampson-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Portrait of Henry T. Sampson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Henry T. Sampson is a prolific inventor who holds several U.S. patents. In 1967, he became the first African American in the United States to earn a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering &#8211; a field in which he excelled greatly.
