Midterms are officially over, and now the home stretch begins! This is the most stressful part of the semester. Final projects start, intense work is required, and all your final stuff is due at the same time. (Isn\u2019t that always how it goes?) Your classmates are either getting stressed, completely past the point of caring, or somehow both. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, it\u2019s not all bad. Classes are halfway done, which means you\u2019ve completed half the course! At this point, you may or may not know a few of your classmates, but this is the perfect time to make friends. There are plenty of ways to deal with the aftermath<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explore Campus Clubs<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

You could pop in and see what all the fuss is about clubs. Each campus has its fair share of clubs, both school-wide and for special interests<\/a><\/strong>. Exploring these clubs is a great way to spend some time de-stressing and engaging with something you\u2019re interested in! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, you could check out Clearwater\u2019s Tabletop Gaming Club to enjoy games with like-minded people. Seminole has a fishing club that travels and hangs out, having a great time catching fish. In Tarpon Springs, Silent Titans is alive and well! Their club focuses on experiencing deaf culture and allowing students to learn and brush up on American Sign Language (ASL) to help communicate with others. The GLOW (Gay, Lesbian, Or Whatever) club at St. Pete\/Gibbs is for LGBT, questioning, or whatever students! \u00a0These are only a few\u2014check with your campus\u2019s Student Life & Leadership Office<\/a><\/strong> to see what clubs they might have available! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find Off-Campus\nActivities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This is also the time for post-midterm celebrations. Take a drive to Sarasota for the mall or the Ben and Jerry\u2019s shop. Run over to Disney Springs for a day. Better yet, hop over to Disney itself! The mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park put on a nice show for a day trip. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you like the outdoors, check out renting a kayak, Jet Ski,\nor wave runner down at the beach. Most of these things you can do in a day or\neven an afternoon! It\u2019s great for those who still have jobs but want a little R&R.\nIf transportation is an issue with any of these day trips, students are still\nable (and welcome) to relax on campus, especially between classes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit Your Advisor<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re trying to plan ahead, this is the best time to check in with your advisor. If you\u2019re not sure who that is, there are a few ways to find out. You can go to Advising<\/a> <\/strong>and ask them to look it up on your home campus, should you happen to be there. If you\u2019re not, you can also go to MySPC and your advisor is on your front page! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can call, email, or come in to see them. Ideally,\nworking face-to-face allows your advisor to know who you are. Personal\nrelationships can lead to great opportunities. Your advisor can help you get an\nidea of where to go for the next semester. They can look at your current\nprogress as well and see what might be best for you to take depending on what\nyou want in the long term. It\u2019s an invaluable thing. Advising can also help you\nwith career ideas, internship ideas (should you need\/want), and financial aid\ncheck-ins and advice. Going now, in the middle of the semester, can get you a\nhead start on where to go next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Two<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Get Ready to Buckle\nDown<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re halfway through! You\u2019ve gotten the first half of your classes done and over with. You\u2019ve struggled up the mountain. This isn\u2019t to say the next half of the semester will be easy\u2014in fact, coming down a mountain can be much harder than climbing up. This is, also, only a halfway point. However, this is the time to really buckle down on the work you\u2019re doing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have a cumulative final, this could be a good time to set up something like Quizlet<\/a> <\/strong>if you haven\u2019t already. Should it not be cumulative, focus on your last half final. If your final is a project, start early! Procrastination helps no one and the stress it causes can be far from great. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are only a few suggestions for what to do about your\npost-midterm life. The way everyone\u2019s lives and schedules are can be totally\ndifferent and so these tips may or may not work for each of you. However, if\nyou\u2019ve made it this far, you can make it through the rest. With work, school,\nand any other responsibilities, it can seem like an overwhelming time, but\nremember that you have a whole team of people behind you\u2014advisors, friends,\ntutors, and more\u2014who all want to see you succeed. You\u2019ve got this! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
