Getting involved with your school is not just for current students.\u00a0 Alumni Associations<\/a> are impeccable resources for students and graduates alike.<\/p>\n

Alumni Associations have a main goal: to create a network of graduates from the college. This can be a great resource for students and recent graduates who are looking to build their own network, which is much easier with the right connections. The Association can help build relationships with people already in their field or in other fields that might pertain to or interest them. They provide assistance and career development opportunities to help graduates put their best foot forward and make the college look good.<\/p>\n

Alumni Services<\/h4>\n

The Alumni Association’s desire to elevate the image of the college is a boon to students who join, because the organization really wants to see you succeed. Many Alumni Associations offer career services and mentoring and are active in the recruitment of new students.<\/p>\n

Alumni Benefits<\/h4>\n

Another good reason to join is the benefits for graduates. In order to maintain a relationship with grads, the Alumni Association will often host social events, insurance, banking and discounts on a wide variety of items and services. You’ll also get a newsletter that highlights what’s going on with the college, its sports teams and with successful alumni.<\/p>\n

Alumni Scholarships<\/h4>\n

Current students benefit from their college’s Alumni Association in many ways. The organization may provide scholarships, like St. Petersburg College’s<\/a> Apollo and Alumni Achievement Awards, which are presented to two outstanding students each year in order to reward hard work and inspire future graduates.<\/p>\n

The relationship is reciprocal, though. By joining your college’s Alumni Association, you’re giving back to the institution that has helped or will help you along your way. And by helping your college financially with your membership dues, you’re enabling the institution to fund its betterment, which makes your diploma even more valuable.<\/p>\n
