There are three kinds of classes: traditional, blended, and online. Traditional classes are similar to public school, and blended classes are a combination of in-classroom and online instruction. Online classes offer students unparalleled flexibility. But are online classes right for you? These classes require self-discipline and great time management skills. Whichever path you decide to take, here are a few things to keep in mind about online classes.<\/p>\n

Do Your Classwork Everywhere<\/h3>\n

You can do your classwork in the coffee shop, on the beach – anywhere you can get on the internet! Online classes can be great for students who might otherwise not be able to attend college. If you work odd hours, have an unpredictable schedule, or transportation challenges, online classes might be the right choice. There are other questions worth considering before choosing an online class. Do you have reliable access to the internet? Are you comfortable with technology? An academic advisor can help you examine the benefits and challenges of online classes.<\/p>\n

Stay Organized<\/h3>\n

Keeping a good calendar is important in any college class, but doubly so in an online class. Losing track of deadlines and falling behind is the number one reason online students fail. Staying organized is the key to success. On the first day of class, make a calendar with every due date. If you feel like you are falling behind, get in touch with your instructor, and work with them to get caught up.<\/p>\n

Don’t Do Online Classes Alone<\/h3>\n

Form a study group with classmates. There are a lot of great platforms online to help students study. From Facebook Groups to Slack, there\u2019s sure to be a place for your group. Don\u2019t forget that tutoring is available on campus and online<\/a>. Students who work with a tutor four or more times during the term have a far greater success rate. Make working with a tutor an at least once a week habit. In addition to working with peers and tutoring, making use of your instructor\u2019s office hours is another great way to get help.<\/p>\n
