Who are your dream employers and what are they looking for in an employee?&nbsp;As you start your job search, you may want to look at the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tampabay.com\/florida\/2019\/04\/05\/tampa-bays-top-100-workplaces\/\" target=\"_blank\">Top 100 Workplaces in Tampa Bay<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year, beginning in September, the <em>Tampa Bay Times<\/em> opens a survey for employees to identify the top places to work in Tampa Bay. Anyone can nominate their place of employment. Employees answer a series of 24 questions related to workplace and culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&nbsp;The\ntopics include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Alignment &#8211; where the company is heading, its values,\ncooperation<\/li><li>Connection &#8211; employees feel appreciated, their work is\nmeaningful<\/li><li>Effectiveness &#8211; doing things well, sharing different viewpoints,\nencouraging new ideas<\/li><li>My manager &#8211; cares about concerns, helps learn and grow<\/li><li>Engagement &#8211; motivation, retention and recruiting<\/li><li>Leadership &#8211; confidence in company leaders<\/li><li>The basics &#8211; pay, benefits, flexibility, training, expectations<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.energage.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Energage<\/a>, the research partner for Top Workplaces, compiles the results and delivers their report.&nbsp; This is the 10th year the&nbsp;<em>Tampa Bay Times<\/em>&nbsp;partnered with Philadelphia-based Energage to determine the area\u2019s Top Workplaces. The results are based solely on a scientific employee survey process.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year 191 organizations completed the survey.&nbsp;They have a combined employment force of 96,636 employees.&nbsp;Of these employees, 40,363 responded to the questionnaires.&nbsp;Energage used these results to determine those top workplaces.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Employers were ranked based on workforce size: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Small companies<\/strong>: 50-149 local employees<\/li><li><strong>Midsized companies<\/strong>: 150-499 local employees<\/li><li><strong>Large companies<\/strong>: 500-plus local employees<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top Workplaces Live <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Carissa-Roldan-and-Leah-Deranian-at-Workplace-Live-2019-event-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Top workplaces live photo\" class=\"wp-image-8918\" width=\"500\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Carissa-Roldan-and-Leah-Deranian-at-Workplace-Live-2019-event-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Carissa-Roldan-and-Leah-Deranian-at-Workplace-Live-2019-event-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption>SPC employees Carissa Roldan and Leah Deranian with Lightning Mascot ThunderBug at Workplace Live 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Straz Center for Performing Arts (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.strazcenter.org\" target=\"_blank\">Straz Center for Performing Arts<\/a> opened its doors on April 30 for the Top Workplaces Live event. A panel of employers talked about the secret of their success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top Workplaces Live Panelists<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/IMG_8090-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9200\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>John \u201cJC\u201d Connolly \u2013 President and Chief Executive Officer of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nacsemi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">NAC Group, Inc<\/a> (NAC Semi). This is a global electronic components design and service distribution company in St. Petersburg.&nbsp;Mr. Connolly earned his AA at St. Petersburg College before earning his bachelor\u2019s degree from Western Carolina University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not about what you have but what you give,\u201d and \u201cthe most important part of a successful organization drives in and out of the parking lot everyday\u201d states Mr. Connolly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He believes that this philosophy is partially why the company was named in the top workplaces.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Robert-Fisher-1.png\" alt=\"Robert Fisher \" class=\"wp-image-8934\" width=\"64\" height=\"111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Robert-Fisher-1.png 244w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Robert-Fisher-1-173x300.png 173w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 64px) 100vw, 64px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Robert Fisher \u2013 Chief Executive Officer of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.growfinancial.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Grow Financial<\/a>. Mr. Fisher is recognized as one of the most experienced CEOs in the credit union industry.&nbsp;He has served on many industry boards in Florida.&nbsp;Mr. Fisher earned his B.S. in Business from Miami University in Ohio and attended Yale University School of Management for advanced management studies.&nbsp;He has mentored many university students as well as other CEOs.&nbsp;Mr. Fisher believes that \u201clittle things add up for the employee experience.\u201d&nbsp;He likes to engage his employees in casual conversation daily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Steve-Griggs-1.jpg\" alt=\"Steve Griggs \" class=\"wp-image-8935\" width=\"78\" height=\"118\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Steve Griggs \u2013 Chief Executive Officer \u2013 <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/lightning\" target=\"_blank\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a>.&nbsp;Mr. Griggs joined the organization in 2010 as the COO.&nbsp;He oversaw the organizations business operations including concerts and events at <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"AMALIE Arena (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amaliearena.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">AMALIE Arena<\/a>.&nbsp; He has been serving as the CEO since 2015.&nbsp;Under his watch, The Tampa Bay Lightning has sold-out every single home game since the 2014 \u2013 2015 season.&nbsp;Mr. Griggs states \u201cthrough disappointment, leaders must lead.\u201d&nbsp; He leads through a positive attitude and places the best people in the best positions.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2019\/05\/Jason-Hill-1.png\" alt=\"Jason Hill \" class=\"wp-image-8936\" width=\"84\" height=\"120\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Jason Hill \u2013 Chief Executive Officer of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Parallon (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/parallon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Parallon<\/a> Shared Services.&nbsp;This company brings operational knowledge to hospitals, physician practices, and healthcare systems.&nbsp;Mr. Hill holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in Finance, and an MBA from Indiana University.&nbsp;He has over 20 years\u2019 experience in the healthcare industry.&nbsp;Mr. Hill states you must \u201clet employees know about change BEFORE change happens.\u201d&nbsp;He states engaging employee\u2019s builds trust.&nbsp;He is a believer in promoting from within.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So SPC grads, check out these amazing employers.&nbsp;Make sure your resume is updated and ready.&nbsp;Look at your professional attire, practice your elevator speech and handshake.&nbsp;Check out the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/mycoursessupport.spcollege.edu\/career-services-on-demand-webinars\" target=\"_blank\">career webinars<\/a> for help.
