{"id":7785,"date":"2018-04-24T09:00:02","date_gmt":"2018-04-24T09:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/?p=7785"},"modified":"2024-01-30T14:17:57","modified_gmt":"2024-01-30T19:17:57","slug":"pitch-enrollment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/pitch-enrollment\/","title":{"rendered":"PITCH Enrollment: Pursue a Career in Healthcare, Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The PITCH Program, offered by St. Petersburg College and the City of St. Petersburg, provides an opportunity to join two of the fastest growing career sectors nationally and locally &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/future-students\/degrees-training\/health-sciences-and-veterinary-technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">healthcare<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/future-students\/degrees-training\/technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>. And PITCH enrollment is now under way with orientation set for May 8.<\/p>\n<p>According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, &#8220;Employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow 18 percent from 2016 to 2026, adding about 2.4 million new jobs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Employment of computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2016 to 2026,&#8221; the agency reports.<\/p>\n<h5>PITCH Program<\/h5>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/pitch-enrollment\/pitch-information\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7786\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7786\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2018\/04\/PITCH-Information-237x300.jpg\" alt=\"PITCH information\" width=\"237\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2018\/04\/PITCH-Information-237x300.jpg 237w, https:\/\/blog.spcollege.edu\/careers-internships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2018\/04\/PITCH-Information.jpg 701w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 237px) 100vw, 237px\" \/><\/a>The free PITCH Program provides healthcare and technology training for African-American males between the ages of 18 to 24.<\/p>\n<p>SPC partnered with the City of St. Petersburg\u2019s Cohort of Champions to design the program.\u00a0<strong>PITCH<\/strong>, which stands for\u00a0<strong>P<\/strong>ersistence\u00a0<strong>I<\/strong>ncorporated in<strong>T<\/strong>o\u00a0<strong>C<\/strong>ollege,\u00a0<strong>H<\/strong>ired, delivers high quality educational, career, and character development training for African-American males who live in St. Petersburg. Students will have an opportunity to further their education by acquiring an industry-wide certification or college degree in a supportive environment.<\/p>\n<p>The program offers FREE tuition and books, the chance to earn college credits, career opportunities, interactive workshops, and focused end-of-the-course test prep.<\/p>\n<p>Upon acceptance in PITCH\u2019s Program, you can specialize\u00a0in several of the following programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mobile Device Repair Training &#8211; (5\/14\/2018 &#8211; 6\/14\/2018)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Clinical Medical Assistant &#8211; (5\/22\/2018 &#8211;\u00a0 8\/21\/2018)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Phlebotomy &#8211; (5\/12\/2018 &#8211;\u00a0 7\/14\/2018)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>GED Program &#8211; (Open enrollment)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Enrolling in the program is easy, and the classes are conveniently offered. The career training and GED classes will be held at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/friends-partners\/about\/locations\/midtown-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPC Midtown Cecil B. Keene Center<\/a> and the character development workshops will be hosted at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/friends-partners\/about\/locations\/st-petersburg\/gibbs-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPC St. Petersburg\/Gibbs Campus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5>PITCH enrollment this summer<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Registration to take part in PITCH this summer is now open.
