Additionally, the committee members\u00a0enjoyed meals, networking, and presentations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jon\u00a0confirmed his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spcollege.edu\/intern\/\">SPC internship<\/a> got him on track. &#8220;This internship has offerred me a second chance at life,&#8221; said Petrelli, 44. &#8220;St. Petersburg College has offered me a second chance at life.&#8221; Petrelli, interned in Nashville Tennessee at Cupit Music Studios.<\/p>\n<p>Petrelli recognized that getting into the door of the music industry is tough business. Rather than choosing to promote himself or his CD, Petrelli chose instead to follow the advice of a MIRA professor. Petrelli was urged by his professor to &#8220;check his ego at the door and not go into his internship with the mentality of a singer or songwriter, but to listen, learn, and grow&#8221;.\u00a0Instead, Petrelli\u00a0introduced himself\u00a0 while on his internship to others as a MIRA student and intern from St. Petersburg College, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Petrelli stated that his efforts resulted in two job offers and a third that is in the negotiation states. &#8220;They were inviting me into their world,&#8221; Petrelli said. &#8220;It&#8217;s about building trust. It&#8217;s about building relationships, and that translates across all fields that you have.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jon Petrelli was named\u00a0 a success story to the 425 plus Advisory Committee Members who attended the Fall events between September 9th and 10th. These were 525 community members, representing about 350 companies on SPC&#8217;s 39 Advisory Committees..\u00a0 Dr. Jason Krupp, Director of Workforce Services at SPC reminded the committees that it is within their power to offer SPC students on the job experience by fostering internships.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You play a critically important role in guiding our programs and curricula to ensure SPC students are gaining the knowledge, skills, and workplace experiences needed to be competitive in today&#8217;s and tomorrow&#8217;s workforce,&#8221; Dr. Krupp challenged the group.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For the 2014-15 academic year, SPC&#8217;s goal is to offer 1,000 non-clinical workplace learning internships.
