SPC pride was at an all-time high for Spirit Week 2019 as students, staff and faculty donned their favorite college swag and celebrated being Titans.
There were events and activities aplenty for the SPC community, including ice cream socials, Titans trivia, inflatable obstacle courses, photo ops with Titus and even a volleyball match between students and employees. This was also the second year for the #TitanStrong Car Show and the Titans Pep Rally.
The week of festivities was capped off by a kickball tournament on November 8 at Seminole, where Dr. Williams joined in the friendly competition, followed by a salute to veterans during the Titans basketball game later in the evening.
One highlight was the staff/student volleyball game on Tuesday, in which the Faculty/Staff team won both games, 22-10 and 25-19, respectively. Sophomore Lady Titan Alisha Walker played on the student side, and she said it was a grudge match.
“We beat them last year,” she said. “I think they’re still salty about that.”
The pep rally featured rousing performances by the Lakewood High School Marching Band, SPC cheerleaders and a basketball shootout between the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Plus, attendees lined up for free burgers and hot dogs.
Thanks to the efforts and planning of student leaders from SGA and PTK and the SPC Student Life & Leadership teams, Spirit Week was a huge success that we can’t wait to celebrate again next year.
